Artist Charles Johnson showcases a collection of vibrant watercolours
in his first solo show at the Crow Gallery this November.
Charles studied Fine Art and Graphics at Harrow School of Art under
Peter Blake, the renowned Pop Artist of the 1960s. Improving in
the medium of gouache illustration, he progressed to graphics, spending
a number of years
in creative advertising agencies and consultancies in London before
returning to Dublin to become a creative director.
Watercolours have always been his passion, taking him to far away
India, Kenya, as well as Tuscany, Milan, Verona, Catalonia and Western
France.
Charles prefers to paint landscapes, still-life and other subjects
in situ, capturing the vibrance of colour, ambience and atmosphere
in his work. This collection is composed of works in a painterly,
slightly Impressionist style. In tandem with painting, Charles also
pursues his interest in other mediums including creative photography.
