New
work | Paintings and prints by Sylvia Hill
The
work in this exhibition mainly comprises framed etchings and oil
paintings on board. The work has its roots in observational drawings.
The drawings of plants and the human figure evolve over a period
of time. The work comes from the unconscious and just as the nature
of life is a mystery so is man's spiritual relationship to nature.
Sylvia
Hill is a Wicklow based artist who initially studied at Grennan
Mill Craft School, Kilkenny and later studied Fine Art at Dun Laoghaire
College of Art, NCAD and Blackchurch Print Studios. She has been
selected to exhibit nationally in many highly competitive shows
such as Iontas Sligo, Eigse Carlow, Monaghan Open and Mermaid Greenstar,
Bray. In 1997, her work was selected to travel to Paris with the
Wexford Arts Centre Book exhibition. She has been awarded residencies
in the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Annaghmakerrig and at Cill Rialaig.
This is her fourth solo show and it marks a continuation in her
career post-children with renewed vigour and lifelong commitment.
Sylvia is a professional member of Visual Artists Ireland.
