Honouring her commitment to exploring the grid, Sharon Murphy uses this exhibition to respond mainly through paper. Through layering, cutting out and adding shapes, the new work takes on a decidedly sculptural feel with shadow and light being introduced for the first time. Murphy’s recognisable arrangements of line, shape and use of spacing are present but are revealed in new formats which echo and magnify the artist’s earlier interest in books and reading material.

Since graduating from the National College of Art and Design in 2004, Sharon Murphy has exhibited in group and solo shows around Ireland, received a national bursary from the Arts Council and has work in both public and private collections around the country.
