"24 Glances" :: Taken from the Spanish Title '24 Miradas de Raval' which referred to the 24 images that captured aspects of life in the district of Raval in Barcelona.

The project was prepared by 24 individuals from Romania, Ireland, Catalunya (Spain) and France. The Irish participants are part of Voluntary Service International’s Youth Programme and are as follows;

Leanne Freeman
Matt Nicastle
Andie O’Loughlin
Andrew Murray
John Keyes

The pictures are based on the theme of immigration and look at the lives of migrants in the district of Raval in Barcelona, and the impact their presence has had on the neighbourhood. The project was an opportunity for the young people to reflect on the phenomenon of immigration, to look at the realties and the complexities and to celebrate the positive impact migration can have on a city or neighbourhood, as well as the stories of individuals who have taken the journey to live in these new environments.

VSI is the Irish branch of Service Civil International (SCI) an international NGO promoting peace through volunteering.

The project was funded by the European Commission Youth in Action Programme.
